Want to take part in some forum's topic but don't want to spend much time to check discussion board very often?

There is a solution - IPB Message Checker ! It will check the discussion board periodically and inform you about new posts marked as unread. So you can save your time and just ignore some uninteresting subjects without viewing the discussion board in internet browser.

Have different notifications about new posts by your choice: blinked icon in tray, balloon or sound alerts.

After installation the IPB Message Checker is configured to start at the time of Windows start up. You don't see the main window because it is minimized to tray icon, so IPB Message Checker don't bother you until monitored discussion board has new posts.

Preferred notifications can be easily configured in program menu. It is possible to select one kind of notification or more. In this case all notifications will be launched simultaneously when IPB Message Checker will find new posts on the discussion board.

Each time when the server is being asked for new posts it returns a list of new posts sinse last time when all messages were marked as read. This means you will be get notified about new posts each time when the IPB Message Checker receives not empty list that contains new posts even if you read them on the discussion board. To avoid to be notified the second time about the same messages you have to mark all new posts as read. It will send the special command to the engine of the discussion board and next time you will get a notification about new posts since the time you have marked all posts as read.

At the first start after installation IPB Message Checker shows a dialog where you should configure it to use a discussion board of your choice. Of course you have to be a registered user of the discussion board otherwise you cannot fill requared fields in this dialog. IPB Message Checker supports HTTP proxies, so you are able to use one even if you don't have direct internet connection. If you're not sure about all this technical things but have Internet Explorer working then you can keep default settings and IPB Message Checker should be able to make a connection to the specified discussion board.

Additionaly you can configure notifications about new posts just for the forums on the discussion board in which you are interested. It's simple. Press a button to retrieve the forums' list and mark desired ones with a checkbox. IPB Message Checker will filter all new posts that come from the discussion board according your preferences. Also you are able to be notified about changes in the topics you have created in forums that are not selected. Since version 1.8, IPB Message Checker is able to track the individual topics. To do that, you should put a topic id into the monitor or ignore list. Topics from the ignore list will be always ignored, even if they are located in the monitored subforums. Monitored topics behave the same, they will be always checked for new posts, even if they are located in the ignored subforums.

In the advanced options you can set the limit of the new posts to retrieve from the discussion board. Use this setting with caution, because this limit is set for all new posts retrieved from the server. If actual number of new posts on the server (in all subforums) exceeds this limit, then you can see less filtered new posts as it should be.
